AI / upload mode roadmap

Summarize PDF with AI Roadmap

AI PDF summarization can be useful, but it requires explicit upload consent, retention policy and quality evaluation before shipping.

how it works

Designed for the shortest private path.

  1. Use local tools for document preparation today.
  2. AI summary requires explicit upload consent.
  3. The feature must report model boundary and deletion policy before launch.
advanced feature boundary

AI PDF Summary is not shipped in the local MVP yet.

This feature needs a higher quality bar than the current browser-only pipeline. If it later requires upload or AI processing, VaultPDF will separate it from local tools and ask for explicit consent before any file leaves the browser.

Use local tools now
quality gate

AI summary gate

Summaries must be faithful, cite page ranges where possible and make upload/retention boundaries explicit.

faq

Practical boundaries before you process a file.

Can AI summary be fully local?

Small local models may be possible later, but high-quality summaries typically need server-side AI today.

Will files be used for training?

VaultPDF should explicitly state retention and training policy before any AI upload feature ships.
